Beginning-Intermediate Ballet Classes that focus on developing classical
technique, understanding ballet terminology, correct execution of
basic steps as well as a basic understanding and application of
placement and alignment. More challenging barre and center work is
introduced.
Jazz
The jazz dance class begins with a series of simple stretches and
strengthening exercises. Students continue working across the floor
with basic progressions that eventually lead up to short
combinations that are repeated on the right and left side. Their
memorization skills really improve as they recall dance material
learned from previous weeks. Students quickly begin to distinguish
right from left and they are introduced to “spotting” for turns. The
music used in class gives them a sense of rhythm and the various
steps used in a jazz class help to strengthen their bodies and
improve both their overall coordination and flexibility.
Tap
Tap lessons are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound.
Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm
tap. Lessons focus on learning tap terminology, developing proper
tap technique, coordination, and speed of movement, producing clear
tap sounds, and having fun. As students progress through each level
curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
